Six-Month Braces

Six Month Braces Give You Straight Teeth Fast

If there’s a common theme to most of the adult patients who come see us to learn about Powerprox Six Month Braces Technique, which we’ve been using with great results for over 10 years now, it’s this: “I want a straight smile, but I really don’t want to wear braces for 2-3 years!” Patients Love Six Month Braces – Seriously Most of the time, patients don’t like to see the dentist.  However, if there’s one procedure they actually WANT to come see us for, hands-down, it is Six Month Braces.  And if there’s one thing that we LOVE to do for our patients, it’s to make that dream come true.  We had a patient in today, who started his braces on January 15th, 2014, so just barely over 3 months ago, and you can see how quickly he’s almost finished.  We anticipate finishing him in just 6-8 more weeks, so he’ll actually be done FASTER than six months.  It was fun showing him his “Before” photo today, and he’d already forgotten just how crooked those lower eye teeth were. Recent Six Month Braces Cases

Are you looking to improve your smile by straightening crooked teeth, but perhaps you really don't want to go through 2-3 years of braces?  While we can definitely help with complicated cases by using InvisalignTM, the clear alternative to braces, for patients who have more limited goals, Powerprox Six Month Braces is a great option! Six Month Braces Isn't Always About Perfect Smiles Often, the patients who come to us for Six Month Braces aren't looking for a "perfect" smile, which they know would take comprehensive orthodontic treatment.  They aren't looking for a perfect bite, because they can already chew just fine, don't have any pain, but they are often unhappy and lack confidence in their smile.  With that in mind, there is nothing "wrong" about providing improvement, even if it falls short of "perfection," as long as we do no harm to the patient. Case #1: Severe Crowding Straightened in 9 Months LS came to us to see what we could do about the severe crowding in her smile.  After a thorough exam, it was explained that she realistically needed comprehensive orthodontic care, that would probably last 18-30 months.  However, she absolutely refused this option; after further discussion of pros and cons, we ultimately decided simply to treat the top teeth only, with a treatment time goal of about 9 months.  We both knew in advance that the final result would be a compromise and less than ideal, but I did tell her we would make a big improvement.  And as you can see, we did! Can a “Regular” Dentist Do Braces? YES!

Rather recently, there have been some efforts by the American Association of Orthodontists to promote the specialty of orthodontics by - unfortunately IMO - "putting down" the ability of general dentists to straighten teeth, whether with InvisalignTM, conventional braces, or any other means.  In fact, on their website, they imply that it is a "myth" that general dentists can straighten teeth as well as an orthodontist. Experience & Training Are Important Is it true that orthodontists have 2-3 years of additional training after dental school, whereas we general or "family" dentists don't?  Yup!  Definitely true.  Another important question to ask, however, is this," Just how hard is it really to make teeth straight with braces?" Well, in my not-so-humble-opinion, with some good training, it's not all that hard compared to many of the other things we general dentists do!  And when you add to that the fact that I've been doing braces for about 7 years, along with the training in comprehensive reconstructive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and a few other things, I think I can safely say I have both the experience and training necessary to give YOU a great result. Six Month Braces Patient of Dr. Payet I present to you the Before-and-After photos of a young lady, 17 years old to be exact, who recently completed her orthodontic treatment in our office.  Yes - my patient, my pictures.  :-D You can click on the image to see it enlarged. This young lady was referred to me by a current patient, and she is embarking on career in modeling and acting.  We had discussed that ideal orthodontic treatment for her would last 18 months or so, but that would have majorly interfered with some [...]

Six-Month Dental Braces Move Teeth Fast

Which is "Better:" Six Month Braces or Invisalign? Among adults, when they are considering having braces done to straighten their teeth, one of the first options that always comes to mind is InvisalignTM, because what adults usually want is for no one to actually know that they have braces!   With adult orthodontics becoming more popular and mainstream, largely thanks to marketing by Invisalign, it's not quite as critical as it used to be that the braces be invisible, but it's still preferable.  The other thing that adults want with their braces, is that they do NOT want to have them on for 2-3 years.  In fact, most of the Six Month Braces Patients that we see have had 1 or more consultations with an orthodontist already, and they just refused to be in braces that long. Why I believe Six Month Braces is the better option for adults: Now, let's keep in mind that short-term orthodontic treatment is not something new; in fact, the concepts have been around for decades.  It's just recently, though, that more classes have become available for general/family dentists, so you're hearing more about it.  Most just never learn about it from their orthodontists!  But for adults, Six Month Braces is IMO the "best" option for adults who want straight teeth.  Why?  It's simple: Six Month Braces is usually at least $1,000 less expensive than Invisalign; Six Month Braces is able to handle more difficult situations than Invisalign; and Six Month Braces works faster than Invisalign because the dentist has greater direct control, and besides, you can only move teeth that are set in bone so far with rigid clear trays; Six Month Braces may not be quite as invisible as Invisalign, [...]

The Southern Women’s Show from a Dentist’s View

Well, it's been almost 2 whole days for Smiles by Payet Dentistry here at the SWS, and it's been a blast.  Admittedly, as a happily married guy, I've probably not enjoyed it as much as the women or as if I were single :-) , but it's been a blast as an exhibitor for the first time (it won't be the last for sure).  We put a lot of work into our booth, so of course we'd love it if you stopped by Booth 204-206, which is right by the Fashion Stage to the left of the Main Entrance. A couple of my awesome staff, Rosie and Kay, set it up with some help from Kay's friends, Patti and Chuck. Check it out: It's a lot of fun watching people, of course, and it's been fun watching people and getting to talk to so many as they go by, or as they stop and ask questions about our Oxyfresh Fresh Breath products, the Six Month Clear Adult Braces, Laser Periodontal Therapy, or Invisalign.  Since I have my camera with me, fellow professional photographers do stop to chat as we're shooting the fashion shows (it's easy to spot us with big white lenses LOL); we've also gotten to meet a number of the models after they've finished their shows, and I'm excited to say [...]

Six-Month Braces if you have Gum Disease? YES!

Patients with periodontal (gum) disease often end up being very embarrassed about their smiles, because as the disease progresses and more bone is lost, the teeth start drifting.  It's not uncommon to see the teeth flared out with a lot of spaces between them, or the bottom front teeth really crowded as the teeth shifted with the bone being lost. Very often, these cases are the kind that would respond very well with our Six Month Braces, but there's a little problem......if you try to move teeth with braces while there is active gum infection going on, you will only make the situation worse, with the result being even more bone loss, more gum recession, and eventually even looser teeth than before you started.  While it might seem like your smile is improving during the process, once the braces came off, and the support they provided was gone, you'd suddenly realize you were closer than ever to losing your teeth entirely.  So it's not uncommon that people simply become resigned to not only having gum disease, bad breath, etc., but to living with a smile that embarrasses them. Now There is a Way! As one of only 4 dental offices in the city of Charlotte (along with 1 in Salisbury and 1 in Fort Mill, SC) with the Periolase MVP-7 dental laser, with which we perform Laser Periodontal Therapy(TM), a patented procedure that treats gum disease more effectively and more comfortably than any other procedure currently available, we can actually regenerate bone and healthy gum attachment.  And THAT is why it allows us to offer patients a way to not only save their teeth from gum disease and dentures, but also to give them a [...]

Is There a Comfortable Treatment for Periodontal (Gum) Disease? YES!

I just got off the phone with one of our patients from yesterday for whom we had done LANAP, also known as Laser Periodontal TherapyTM, as I wanted to check and see how she is doing today.  And even though I have heard the same exact story practically every single time, I still find it wonderful to hear, and so I wanted to relate it to you (I'll ask her at her first follow-up appt. next week if she wouldn't mind doing a short video herself): Bear in mind......this lady has moderately advanced periodontal (gum) disease, and so when we were doing her treatment yesterday, we had to do a LOT, not just with the Periolase itself, but also with the ultrasonic scaler/cleaner that we use to remove all of the tough tartar build-up; to treat her whole mouth took about 2.5 hours, so she was in our office for quite some time.  Fortunately, she was able to watch Dr. Phil during the procedure, which kept her pretty well distracted LOL. So what did she say when I asked her how she felt immediately afterwards and also today?  Basically, she said that she took just 1 (ONLY ONE!!!!) 800mg Ibuprofen tablet yesterday "just in case," but since then, she has had practically no pain, and only a tiny bit of soreness, and she has not had to take ANY further pain medication of any kind!  That is one of the things I simply LOVE about doing LANAP -- even though we are treating the gum disease very aggressively, the physical properties of the laser stimulate healing so much and soothe the body so much, that patients are always amazed at how well they feel afterwards. [...]

We will soon welcome our newest Team Member, Samantha

I am very pleased to announce that we have just hired our newest Team Member, Samantha H., who will be joining us sometime in the next 2 weeks as our full-time Orthodontic Assistant. With the dramatic increase in patients getting 6MonthSmiles Clear Adult Braces, as well as the Comprehensive Orthodontics we now offer for teens,  now that we have the additional chairs to accommodate them in a more timely manner, it became important to have an assistant with real experience. Rosie has done well, but her real knowledge and expertise is in the areas of fillings, crowns, bridges, LANAP, and other aspects of general dentistry, and this will allow her to provide more dedicated assisting time with me, in order to make your appointments go more smoothly and quickly. Some of you have already met Samantha when she came to us for a working interview, and you can surely attest (please feel free to comment here :-) ) to how pleasant and skilled she is, as pretty much all of you requested her back at your next appointment!  With 13 years of experience, she is fast AND easy-on-the-teeth.  We are sure that you will all love working with her.

Smiles by Payet Dentistry is Moving in May!

As we've been telling so many of our patients in recent months, we are moving to a new office around the middle of May 2010, and we're REALLY excited about this!  For a number of reasons, our new office is going to make it so much easier for us to see even more patients, faster, with BETTER customer service than we already strive to offer every day.  Read on for more........: Expanding from 3 Treatment Rooms to 6: We will be dedicating at least 1 of those new rooms strictly to our Six Month Braces, because we are seeing so many adults who want a pretty, straight smile, but who don't want or need to go through comprehensive orthodontics.  In addition, we will be soon adding Tip-Edge Orthodontics for our teen patients, which will make orthodontic treatment for both parents and teens even more convenient. Private Consultation Room: Oh how nice this will be.  For a while now, we've had to use a converted treatment room for consultations, but it's never been as quiet and private as we'd have liked.  That's changing!  You'll have total quiet and privacy when discussing whatever you need to tell us. Kid's Play Area:  There will be a small area in the Reception are just for kids to play, which will make it so much easier for parents with those small children to keep their appointments. Internet Bar + Free WiFi: In today's interconnected world, it's so important to be able to stay connected.  We will have a separate WiFi network just for our patients, and the one that we use will be securely encrypted to maintain privacy.  And while we will work to ensure your waits are minimal, if [...]

Here at SmilesbyPayet Dentistry, there are some very exciting changes coming to our Charlotte family dental office that we want you to know about.  In order to really stay on top of things, you can subscribe to the RSS feed or you can become a Fan on our Facebook Page Facebook.com/TheCharlotteDentist to get all the latest updates. Our new office will be located at 4601 Park Rd. at the corner of Park Rd. and Abbey Place, which is just 1 stoplight south of the intersection of Park Rd. and Woodlawn Rd., where you'll find the Park Rd. Shopping Center.  It's really easy to find - the big, white, square building on the corner opposite the Bank of America Branch; we'll be Suite 175.  This new office will have some tremendous advantages: MUCH easier to find!  Our name will be easy to read on the Monument sign right on Park Rd., and if you're using GPS, it won't be a problem at all, compared to our current Morrocroft Professional Park location. We're growing so fast, we're moving from our current 3 treatment rooms to SIX!  Due to the incredibly popularity of our 6MonthSmiles adult cosmetic braces (listen to our radio spot on WLNK), we'll be dedicating 1 of those rooms exclusively to our orthodontic patients. A truly PRIVATE consultation room.  Whenever discussing financial matters, health conditions, personal fears, whatever else that you don't want anyone else to hear, of course you want privacy, and our current office doesn't give us that luxury as we'd like.  In the new office, you'll have complete privacy. A childrens' play area!  They will be able to scribble on the walls, play Xbox, and more. Big-screen [...]
